SUMMARY:An Evening with Boston Light Keeper Sally Snowman
DESCRIPTION:A presentation by Sally Snowman\, the 70th Keeper of U.S. Coast Guard Light Station Boston \nSally Snowman\, Ph.D.\, is the 70th Keeper of U.S. Coast Guard Light Station Boston\, a.k.a. Boston Light\, and the first female to be appointed over its 307 years of history (1716-2023). She traded her career path from academia to Lighthouse Keeper in 2003 when the Coast Guard transitioned from active duty personnel stationed on Little Brewster Island to a civilian keeper’s position. Another transition is forth coming with Sally bringing closure this country’s last “manned” Coast Guard Light Station. Having twenty years of service as the Keeper\, she will be retiring at the end of the year with the USCG eliminating the position. The presentation being offered is with glimpses of the past and present. \nSally and her husband\, Jay Thomson met as volunteers in the Coast Guard Auxiliary and married on Little Brewster Island. Both having a passion for maritime history\, they have co-authored two books: “Boston Light – A historical perspective” (1999) and “Bos-ton Light – Arcadia Images of America” (2016); and “Sammy the Boston Lighthouse Dog” written for children by Sally (2005). \nTickets for this event are: \n\n$10.00 per person for Society members\n$15.00 per person for non-members\n\n			\n				Purchase Tickets\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Tickets may also be purchased at the Schoolhouse on Cudworth Road AND at the door. \n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				This program sponsored in part by a grant from the Mass Cultural Council\, supporting cultural opportunities throughout the Commonwealth.
