This book is a history of the people and events that produced this vibrant and significant community.  This recounting of the town as one of the earliest settlements is taken from records of the town as well as churches.  Rev. Deane was pastor of the Second Church in Scituate from 1810 through 1834.  The earliest inhabitants were members of the first ship’s company who came up from Plymouth in 1633, many of them from the county Kent in England. Several biographical sketches of these first settlers are included.
